The Camp was originally built as a searchlight battery unit in 1939, playing its part in Britain's wartime defence. It is a rare and remarkable survival — a genuine piece of living history tucked away in the Huntingdonshire countryside, and one we are incredibly proud to care for.
The Ramsey Camp Committee has taken on the responsibility of restoring and maintaining the buildings, ensuring their original 1940s features are preserved for future generations. Every August, we bring the Camp back to life with our much-loved 1940s weekend — two days of music, vehicles, re-enactors, traders and warm community spirit that keeps growing year on year. Everything we do goes straight back into keeping the Camp alive and thriving.
None of it would be possible without our wonderful volunteers, who give so much of their time and energy to make everything happen. From setting up to packing down, they are the heartbeat of everything we do here, and we are truly grateful for every single one of them.
